quimiCer constantly strives to make everything you could possibly imagine become a reality.

BASIC PRINCIPLES

quimiCer constantly strives to make everything you could possibly imagine become a reality.

quimiCer’s basic principles
Starting from the premise that our clients are our raison d’être, we are in a constant process of implementing a culture of total market-orientation in our whole corporate structure. We have established innovation, integration and excellence as our fundamental principles; in other words, a dynamic geared towards continual improvement within the framework of sustainable growth, adopting and promoting responsible behaviour towards individuals and the environment.
Applied research should inevitably be linked to environmental and social responsibility. quimiCer believes that a fundamental aspect of all its activities is respect for the environment and the development of services that contribute to its protection and to the sustainable development of the company and society.
In this respect, quimiCer has adopted research and development as the basic pillars of our work; interest and curiosity as the motors that drive us; dedication, ambition and tenacity as the energy that feeds this driving force; and imagination and creativity as our finest tools.
Our research aims to reach above and beyond existing needs. Our innovation redefines the limits of what is technically and aesthetically achievable. We research and innovate to set the trends, to formulate the future.

quimiCer has incorporated innovation in the company as a business activity in itself, involving tasks, managers, time, resources and objectives and guided by an INNOVATION COMMITTEE.

INNOVATION MANAGEMENT

quimiCer has incorporated innovation in the company as a business activity in itself, involving tasks, managers, time, resources and objectives and guided by an INNOVATION COMMITTEE.

This framework gives us a practical system for innovation, managed by multi-departmental working teams with the occasional involvement (for specific cases) of external personnel (consultants, architects, fitters, interior decorators, builders, designers, landscapers, researchers (in domotic systems, solar energy, chemical experts from other sectors, etc.).

Since 2004, quimiCer has been striving to adopt this principle as part of a model we have called “connectivity”. Our understanding of connectivity is along the same lines, but in a dual sense. On the one hand, we use this concept at an internal level to identify how our working teams operate (multi-departmental, etc.); and on the other we apply it externally as a strategic means of collaboration based on networking (proximity, communications and close relations) with ceramic producers, consumer motivators and associated companies (machinery, design, etc).

»
Innovating: constantly improving the quality of our products and services. Redefining the limits of what is technically and aesthetically possible.
»
Customising: anticipating our clients’ needs and providing customised solutions.
»
Managing: expectations.
»
Maximising: benefits.
»
Minimising: risks.

At both an internal and external level we strive to find the optimum solution for every project and, in doing so, create working teams to tackle the interactivity of each project from a unique perspective. The projects are organised into internal or external teams depending on requirements, which share the three working areas: our website as a showcase and a tool for external communications; our Intranet as a tool for internal organisation and communications; and our laboratory, the university or the plants themselves as a physical space for meeting and interaction.
All this is geared towards creating added value and disseminating it to the benefit of everyone involved.

R+D POLICY

"There is nothing that generates greater opposition, or more criticism, or more distrust among people than an attempt to change the natural order of things"
Niccolo Machiavelli

We need to take on board the challenging and categorical fact that in business terms there is no ‘natural order of things’. Everything is constantly susceptible to improvement; everything is pending change.

New ideas for surpassing ourselves. New ideas for renewing ourselves. To go above and beyond current needs. To broaden our horizons and redefine the limits of what we can achieve today. We need to think about the things that do not yet exist, to question everything that is already established. To analyse the past, rationalise the present and imagine the future. Only in this way will we be capable of designing the solutions to problems that have not even been posed yet. Only in this way will we be capable of satisfying the expectations we dreamed of.
At quimiCer, with enthusiasm, imagination and creativity, we define the trends and formulate the future, which is already the present.

Our strategic focus for the future is:
»
The guiding directive that drives our innovations.
»
So convincing that it supersedes any other potential opportunities.
»
To increase the aspirations of our company.

In the alchemy of quimiCer’s R+D, the reactive elements are the creativity, the talent, the knowledge and the motivation of the people involved.

“We must accept the stark and challenging truth that, from a business point of view, there is no natural order of things. Everything is susceptible to being constantly improved. Everything is waiting...

WORK IN PROGRESS

“We must accept the stark and challenging truth that, from a business point of view, there is no natural order of things. Everything is susceptible to being constantly improved. Everything is waiting to be changed”.

TECHNICAL GUIDE

FRITS
The ceramic frit is a material of vitreous nature which is obtained by melting blends of vitreous raw materials at high temperature (T>1400ºC).
»
The frit production process allows the use of soluble raw materials: boric acid, carbonates, nitrates, etc.
»
It reduces the toxicity of some elements (Pb, Ba, etc.).
»
It increases the firing time range and makes the composition more uniform.
»
The melting onto the tile offers a relatively wide interval, since it melts progressively.
»
It allows to speed up the glaze production (logistic reason).

They can be matt, glossy, opaque, transparent, hard or flux. [+]
GLAZES
Glazes must have specific technical and aesthetic properties.
»
Correct superficial application of enamel.
»
High resistance to crackle.
»
Easily cleaned and resistance to aggressive chemical products.
»
Constancy and repeatability.
»
Boosting the output and the intensity of the ceramic inkjet inks.

quimiCer has got a complete catalogue of glazes to fulfill any technical or aesthetic need. They could be split in three big blocks. Each of these groups of glazes may be perfectly applied both to red-body and white-body tiles. Next, find a small sample of the most demanded ones.
SCREEN PRINTING
Screen printings are ground and micronized glazes used in decorations, both in rotary and flat systems. Its rate of use ranges from 980 °C and 1210 °C. Most of these screen printings can be coloured in any proportion of colour and blend in to get the desired effect.
SPRAY-DRIED GLAZES
Glazes ground and dried in an atomizer. This way they get the optimum characteristics and fluidity to press them or apply them dry on a glazing line.
The effects obtained both on the press and the glazing line are much more similar to nature than the effects obtained using more traditional glazing methods. They can be transparent, gloss, matt or anti-slip.
COLOURS
Calcined colouring oxides, with a wide range of stability and firing to colour (wet or dry) any glaze, spray-dried glaze, screen printing, etc.
